Richmond

7041 - 7169, 7169 - 7249

Two short drives on Friday September 11 and Saturday September 12. Friday I drove from DC to Richmond. The traffic in this area is astounding. Then Saturday I had my shortest drive yet, from Richmond to Charlottesville, Virginia.

Friday I arrived in Richmond to join Swannee Goodman Ericson. I have been a long time friend of Swannee, her brother Carey (a classmate and teammate at Davidson) and their parents, Bob and Ginny Goodman. Cheri and I met at Swannee's wedding! Swan is on the left. Part of me is on the right.

Swannee took me to the Legend Brewing Company, knowing I needed a local brew. I enjoyed a sampler of six of their brews, and prefered their Pale Ale with the Brown Ale a close second. More importantly, Swannee and I had a chance to catch up and trade our recent life experiences on a glorious sunny Friday afternoon.

Bob and Ginny Goodman came over for dinner, and we exchanged old stories and explored new avenues of expression.

Saturday I drove to Charlottesville, where I stayed a couple of nights with my brother Rob and sister-in-law Laura. They are beer officianados and intoduced me to two good ones: Dales Pale Ale (Oskar Blues Brewery, Lyons, Colorado) and hoppy Northern Lights (Starr Hill Brewery, Charlottesville, Virginia).

More of Charlotteville on Sunday.
